Construction traffic for new hospital will not pass through Caerleon

  • After pressure from Councillor Gail Giles and former Councillor Cliff Suller, assurances have now been given that no construction traffic involved in the building of the new £350m hospital at Llanfrechfa will be allowed to go through Caerleon.

Torfaen Council have told Newport City Council that all traffic involved in the work will approach the site using alternative routes.

Councillor Giles said:”I am delighted that these assuranceshave been given because the extra load on a town which is already overburdened with heavy traffic would have been far too much.
