Can you help? The designated polling station for Home Farm and Roman Reach over the last few years is no longer available, which means that voters in next May’s General Election could have to travel to Lodge Hill School to vote.
Caerleon Labour Party have written to Newport City Council’s Electoral Registration Manager to express their concern, pointing out that 1400 voters in the area would be disadvantaged and that turnout could be seriously affected.
In the meantime Caerleon Labour Party plan to distribute leaflets to local residents, asking if there is a householder who would be prepared to offer alternative premises. It only requires a garage or a front room, the provision of toilet facilities for polling station staff, and the use of a kettle for hot drinks. Such facilities would not be required for the public, although basic disability access to the premises would be an obvious must.
If anybody wishes to offer their premisesfor use as a polling station on Thursday May 7th would they please contact Tony Jermyn on 01633 430549,07730 044380 or [email protected]
