  • Caerleon Labour Party Manifesto 2017

    • Continue to oppose unwanted development, but press for a new rail station

    • Continue to support community projects, such as the Home Farm Play Area, Caerleon Festival, Christmas in Caerleon and Caerleon in Bloom

    • Ensure that the trend in reductions in crime and anti-social behaviour stays on course

    • Deliver the new Lodge Hill Primary School building & work with all our schools to build on their successes — of which there are many

    • Back the Welsh Labour Government’s preferred route for the new M4, which  includes a plan for the complete reopening of Caerleon’s Junction 25, on the present M4

    • Continue to monitor and look for solutions to traffic, air quality and parking problems”

    • The environment: tackling poor air quality; protecting our heritage; preventing overdevelopment
    • Anti-social behaviour: keeping the May Fair as a safe family event; controlling licensing; liaising with police
    • Young people: maintaining good schools, increasing youth activities and developing play areas
    • Transport: developing further cycle and walking routes;  campaigning for a railway station
    • Local democracy: restoring regular local public meetings; giving Caerleon people a voice
    • Senior residents: help for local organisations and support at home

    These were our promises at the last council election, building on all our previous achievements:
    1. To serve Caerleon faithfully and effectively

    2. To continue to act as planning watchdogs

    3. To develop cycle routes and footpaths

    4. To carry on supporting local organisations

    5. To continue the fight against litter and dog fouling

    6. To help to maintain high standards in Caerleon Schools

    7. To continue to support Caerleon in Bloom
