Archaeologists move on to the Campus site

  • Caerleon councillors have been informed that archaeological works arranged by the university will be starting on the Caerleon university site on Monday. This is part of the archaeological evaluation that will be included in the Environmental Statement to be submitted with a future planning application.

    Positions of trenches, etc have been agreed with the Glamorgan and Gwent Archaeological Trust. There is currently no planning application on the site, although one is expected, and the University has confirmed to us that these are investigatory works that will have regard to protected trees on site and heritage assets.
