Conservatives apologise for leaflet error

  • Councillor David Fouweather, the agent for the three Conservative candidates in Caerleon, has written to the Labour agent Mike Singleton apologising for an error in a recent election leaflet where it was stated that Councillor Angela Jones had been a councillor since 2004, whereas she has only been a councillor for four years. Mike  wrote to Mr Fouweather, but received no reply for several days – by which time the leaflet had been distributed throughout most of Caerleon. Caerleon Labour members then contacted the South Wales Argus.

In his letter Councillor Fouweather says,

    Dear Mr Singleton,

Thank you for your letter regarding the typing error on our Caerleon leaflet which I was informed about from the South Wales Argus. I would like to take this opportunity to apologise for the error which was genuine and not intended to mislead the public in any way.

I have now given the instruction that this leaflet is not to be distributed in the Caerleon Ward and that any remaining copies are destroyed.

Once again please accept my apologies and I offer my best wishes to you and the three Labour candidates,

    Yours truly,

    David Fouweather
