Gail Giles leads the way on the go ahead for Welsh school

  • Caerleon Councillor Gail Giles, who is also Newport City Council’s  Cabinet Member for Education, led the way this week when it was decided to go ahead  Newport’s new Welsh language school at Duffryn.

Newport’s planning committee had originally turned down an application because of National Resources Wales warnings about flood risk.

But the full council overturned the objections overwhelmingly, on the basis that the benefits of building Ysgol Gyfun Is Coed in Duffryn outweighed the risks. Gail Giles moved the proposal and her speech can be seen by clicking  (here)
