First Minister Carwyn Jones told party activists in Newport on April 17th that a vote for Labour in the council elections would send out a message rejecting the Tory / Lib Dem budget with its tax breaks for millionaires and cuts in support for working families.
The First Minister – seen here with Caerleon Labour candidates Paul Huntley and Cliff Suller said that unlike other parties there would be no all-Wales manifesto.”
“Our campaign will not be national, it will be local”, he said.
“No blanket promises from Labour councils about the choices we will make in power, because we know that the right answer for a community in Ringland isn’t necessarily the right answer for a family in Wrexham.
“Will your local council work with the Welsh Labour Government to shield the most vulnerable from the Tory assault? If it is Labour-run, then yes it will.”
